Responsibilities & Duties
  • Serve as the mechanical engineering owner for assigned products, processes, localization projects, operational improvements, and supplier technical issues.
  • Support localization of equipment and components introduced for manufacture or assembly in the United States by assessing drawings, specifications, materials, supplier capability, and process readiness.
  • Work with Procurement and suppliers to interpret models, drawings, specifications, GD&T, materials, and technical requirements for sourcing decisions; prepare complete desig n document packages for Requests for Quote.
  • Resolve supplier design and manufacturability questions and evaluate proposed Engineering Change Requests.
  • Evaluate local impact of global Engineering Change Orders and coordinate implementation with other departments.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality to design fixtures, gauges, assembly methods, test methods, and ergonomic solutions that improve product quality, safety, repeatability, and productivity.
  • Develop, document, implement, and improve production, warehouse, material flow, and inventory control processes.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and kaizen methods to develop processes .
  • Lead or support root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, F ishbone, and other appropriate tools; coordinate containment for nonconforming material and develop and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support Quality with First Article Inspections, supplier quality concerns, nonconforming material, advanced product evaluation, and verification that corrective actions remain effective.
  • Develop and maintain standard packaging requirements for machines and assemblies.
  • Provide handsโ€‘on floor support during implementation, startup, troubleshooting, and sustainment
  • Perform other duties assigned by management as business needs dictate.
RequirementsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering ; a n equivalent engineering degree may be considered when supported by substantial mechanical design and manufacturing experience.
  • Three or more years of engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, fabrication, assembly , o r a similar operations environment preferred.
  • Advanced 3D modeling capability required ; h andsโ€‘on SolidWorks proficiency in parts, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, weldments, and production tooling is strongly preferred; PTC Creo Direct and DraftSight experience are beneficial.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T , interpretation of models, drawings, specifications, tolerances, and technical requirements.
  • Experience with complex, multi-level BOMs, including interpretation, analysis, explanation , and change control .
  • Practical experience with Lean Six Sigma , 5S, kaizen, and structured problem solving.
  • Knowledge of sourcing, product localization, engineering change control, and design f or X .
  • Metal fabrication experience preferred, including laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing, machining, and assembly.
  • U nderstanding of electrical, software, and automation preferred; ability to interpret electrical prints is beneficial .
  • Project management experience and demonstrated leadership of crossโ€‘functional teams.
  • SAP or other ERP system experience involving BOMs, routings, master data, and engineering change control preferred.
Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, primarily within North America; occasional international travel may be required.
  • Maintain a clean and valid driver's license and the ability to rent a vehicle.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
  • Ability and willingness to work regularly in production, assembly, warehouse, and service environments and comply with all applicable PPE and safety requirements.

The Mechanical Engineer is the primary engineering resource for assigned products, manufacturing processes, localization activities, and operational improvements.
