Summary

We are looking for a skilled and reliable trucking company mechanic to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment. You will also perform routine inspections, diagnose problems, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. To be successful as a trucking company mechanic, you should have a strong mechanical aptitude, a valid CDL driver's license is strongly preferred, but not required, and a willingness to work flexible hours. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team and follow instructions and procedures. You will report to the maintenance manager and adhere to the company's policies and regulations.


Responsibilities

Perform DOT inspections on dry van trailers, day cab tractors, and dollies. 

Repair trailer electrical, walls, floors and liftgates.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and light repairs on trucks, trailers, and equipment, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, tires, and hydraulic and air systems.

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify, troubleshoot issues and perform repairs.

Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure optimal performance and safety of the vehicles and equipment.

Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work, inventory, and service orders.

Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding vehicle safety and emissions.

Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear and equipment.

Keep the work area clean and organized.

Assist other mechanics and technicians as needed.

Requirements

 Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a truck, trailer, diesel mechanic or a similar role.

Certification from a vocational or technical school in diesel technology, automotive mechanics, or a related field is preferred.

Valid CDL driver's license preferred, not required.

Ability to operate and drive trucks and trailers.

Knowledge of truck and trailer systems, components, and functions.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, equipment, and software.

Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, bending, crawling, and standing for long periods.

Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and customer service skills.
