Job description

Automotive Mechanic/ Truck Driver

Company:

Boeing Aerospace Operations

Boeing is seeking an Automotive Mechanic/Truck Driver to join our team in Hertford, NC, to support mission critical operations. Primary role is an automotive mechanic but will act as a back-up driver as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as an Automotive Mechanic and Alternate Truck Driver for Boeing Global Services
  • Inspects general condition of gasoline, diesel, and hybrid/electric powered vehicles, and generators to determine overall condition, cause of malfunction or need for repair
  • Repair powered and non-powered ground handling and ground support equipment; replace damaged and worn parts, reassembling, and testing and certification of repaired equipment
  • Diagnoses malfunctions by visual or auditory examination methods
  • Uses complex test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, volt meters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges to determine exact nature or extent of repairs or adjustments necessary
  • Isolates malfunction cause using systematic vehicle analysis
  • Troubleshoots, inspects, tests and analyzes the following: vehicle computer/electrical control systems, mechanical and hydraulic systems, lubricating, cooling, air conditioning, exhaust systems, engine electrical systems, engine fuel-air systems, electronic/pneumatic controlled automatic transmission and differentials, power dividers, power trains, brakes, steering and suspension systems
  • Respond to service calls and fill out daily work order reports on all work accomplished
  • Assist in distributing and washing customer vehicles
  • Perform duties as alternate truck driver and other taskings/duties as assigned
  • Transport customer material via road tractor on a variety of routes
  • Driving duties will be accompanied by another skilled team driver
  • Trips vary from in-state to out-of-state trips

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years' experience as a mechanic
  • 1+ year experience reading schematics to rewire ignition system, lights, and instrument panel, etc
  • Forklift operator experience
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Class A CDL License with Passenger and/or Hazmat Endorsement
  • Forklift Operator Certificate, or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
