REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

ROLE AND PURPOSE:

Keep the district's vehicles in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational problem.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ย ย ย ย Minimum Certification/Education:

ย ย ย ย High School diploma or GED

ย ย ย ย Valid Texas drivers' license

ย ย ย ย Certification as a school bus driver

ย ย ย ย Special Knowledge/Skills:

ย ย ย ย Knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance

ย ย ย ย Knowledge of tools and maintenance equipment and their uses

ย ย ย ย Ability to stand, walk, push and pull, lift and carry, stoop, bend and kneel

ย ย ย ย for long periods of time

ย ย ย ย Positive results on the bus driver's physical examination

ย ย ย ย Negative results on periodic random or scheduled drug tests

ย ย ย ย Ability to follow verbal or written instructions

ย ย ย ย Knowledge to communicate effectively (verbally)

ย ย ย ย Ability to work independently

ย ย ย ย Minimum Experience:

Tools/Equipment Used: Automotive diagnostic equipment; wheel balancing equipment; tire repairing equipment; small hand tools; power tools; welding torch; torque wrench; jack and lift equipment; computer and peripherals; school bus and district vehicles.

Posture:ย Moderate standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting;ย work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Motion:ย Moderate walking; frequent climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; moderate driving

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours;
