Job description

The Rapid Response Technician III, travels to the customer's location to perform on-wing inspection, troubleshooting, and to repair aircraft and engines on various corporate jets across the United States and internationally. This position interacts with customers and collaborates with Duncan team members to provide exceptional customer service and rapid response 24/7. The RRT Technician III, with advanced knowledge and high-level skills, inspects, adjusts, repairs and other general tasks related to the maintenance and repair of aircraft and engines systems and components on a variety of aircrafts, using Personal Protection Equipment, in a safe and clean work environment according to manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures and customer specifications. In addition, this position performs effective troubleshooting of the most complicated squawks; in the absence of the lead technician, accepts ownerships of the work scope and established milestones relative to the successful and timely completion of these projects; trains less experienced technicians through the OJT process; prepares and completes appropriate documentation and training logs in a timely manner; will performs as a Qualified Inspector (QI) (Required within six months of hire if hired with prior experience).
Essential Job Functions
  1. Effectively and efficiently performs high quality inspections, servicing, troubleshooting and maintaining of aircraft engines, systems and components on a variety of aircraft engines using proper tooling in a timely, clean, safe and professional manner. Performs as a Quality Inspector (QI). Accurately orders required parts as needed. Performs as an RII Inspector.
  2. Oversees, completes and maintains accurate and timely aircraft/engine and project documentation including reviewing preliminary reports to ensure accuracy of forecasted and billed labor hours; reviewing work orders and invoices, etc. to ensure timely and accurate inventory allocation, appropriate sign-off language, and accurate charges for labor and outside services are applied prior to billing.
  3. Assists with developing and maintaining relationships with area customers, communicating with sales and marketing personnel, and monitors the company's customer database to seek and solicit engine service opportunities. Contacts and calls on customer for aircraft and engine or other service support work to meet established financial goals. Responds to customer requests and issues regarding aircraft and engine service request.
  4. Manages all aspects of assigned maintenance projects to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the projects. Accepts full ownership of assigned projects from pre-planning to delivery of the engine through planning, prioritizing, and communicating with customers, Company personnel, OEM's, outside contractors and vendors, as necessary. Ensures the safety and security of customer's equipment during all maintenance phases.
  5. Assists with managing and maintaining adequate and appropriate parts inventory certification, calibration of assigned tooling, working condition and cleanliness of support vehicles.
  6. Be available to provide a continuation of service and be a point of contact for internal or external customers before or after scheduled hours of work.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader or Asst. Team Leader.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required
  • Must be a fully licensed A&P in good standing with the FAA
  • Must have a minimum of five years of Corporate Aviation Maintenance focusing on engine/airframe maintenance experience
  • Must have previous Lead Technician or AOG maintenance experience with a Corporate Flight Department, Business Jet Service Provider, MRO or OEM.

Job Specific Requirements:
  • Licenses/Certificates: Airframe & Powerplant Certificate required; RII Designation eligible. Must have a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Tools/Equipment: Duncan Aviation does require technicians to have their own basic tools to perform essential functions of the job. Duncan Aviation will provide tool lists for each position to qualifying candidates
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; multiple overnight and short notice travel
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs.; occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments
