Job description

Knox Excavating is looking for an experienced Lead Mechanic to join our growing team. If you're a motivated, dependable professional who takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on:
- Heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.)
- Semi-trucks and trailers
- Pickup trucks and service vehicles
- Small engines and compact equipment
Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and mechanical systems.
Schedule and prioritize equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate service records and parts inventory.
Ensure all repairs are completed safely and meet company standards.
Mentor and assist other shop personnel as needed.

Qualifications

5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
Experience working on construction equipment and Class 8 trucks.
Ability to work independently and manage daily shop operations.
Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
