Job Description Summary

Position Objective:

The EMS Road Technician 2 travels to the customer job site to correct equipment malfunctions for various types of equipment in the EMS specific categories, including diagnosing complex equipment problems while following all safety rules. Acts as a professional representative of Sunbelt Rentals with the customer. EMS specific categories include but are not limited to: large hydraulic excavators, 200+ HP crawler dozers, 25+ ton articulated haul trucks, 4+ yd. wheel loaders, motor graders, class 8 heavy duty on-road trucks, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Services and oversees repairs of all types of equipment as required to ensure proper working condition at the job site
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical equipment problems, troubleshoots and performs onsite repairs as needed
  • Fabricates parts and equipment, including torch cutting and arc welding, as required to meet shop and customer needs
  • The ability to understand complex electrical schematics to ensure proper diagnosis of wiring/electrical component failures.
  • A thorough understanding of all engine, transmission, hydraulic, and emissions systems with the ability to perform complex diagnostics including the utilization of OEM and/or aftermarket diagnostic software programs.
  • An understanding of safe rigging and lifting practices to perform large component removal and installation.
  • Effectively communicates equipment issues with customers and supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Performs other duties assigned as assigned by the manager
  • Adheres to all company, governmental and equipment related safety requirements
  • Attends and participates in all Branch Meetings

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience with Earth Moving and with similar equipment strongly preferred
  • DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
  • MACS or equivalent air conditioning training/certification.
  • Must own and be able to effectively and safely use mechanic's tools and equipment
  • Possess a working knowledge of individual equipment design and safety requirements
  • Exhibit a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety and a high level of safety consciousness
  • Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Must be flexible regarding work assignments

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 50 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt's safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $25.71 - 35.35
