Job Title: Skilled Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking Mechanical Ship Repair Technicians to support our ship repair projects. This hands-on position involves working aboard active vessels, where you'll utilize your strong mechanical skills to perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection preparation, and reassembly of shipboard mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repair aboard ships.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble low-temperature fresh water coolers.
• Remove plates and gaskets, clean components, and reinstall and seal systems.
• Replace nozzles on high-pressure air flasks.
• Perform blue lining and boiler-related work, including opening boilers, cleaning internal components, and preparing equipment for inspection.
• Use hand tools and power tools daily.
• Follow all shipyard safety requirements and inspection standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and shipyard personnel to ensure quality work.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical experience in ship repair, industrial maintenance, or heavy equipment.
• Ability to work aboard ships and in industrial environments.
• Comfortable using hand tools and performing physical work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in ship repair preferred, but not required.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 5:45 AM to 2:15 PM with overtime available!!

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
