The Experienced Bike Mechanic is a skilled, customer-focused expert who delivers exceptional service and technical craftsmanship in evoโ€™s service shop. In this role, you are the backbone of our service department โ€” diagnosing complex mechanical issues, executing high-quality repairs and builds, and mentoring junior staff. The Opportunity

Customer Experience & Service

  • Greet and consult with customers at check-in, diagnosing issues accurately and delivering clear, honest repair quotes.
  • Provide credible, unbiased guidance on repairs, parts, and product recommendations that match the customerโ€™s riding style and budget.
  • Communicate repair status proactively and ensure customers feel informed and valued throughout the service process.
  • Assist customers on the sales floor, leveraging technical expertise to support purchasing decisions.

Technical Work & Quality

  • Perform the full spectrum of bike services: wheel builds, drivetrain overhauls, suspension service (fork and shock), hydraulic brake bleeding, cable and housing replacement, tubeless setups, electronic shifting configuration (Shimano Di2, SRAM), and custom builds.
  • Execute all shop tasks โ€” tunes, assemblies, and repairs โ€” to the highest quality standard, on time and on spec.
  • Accurately diagnose complex and intermittent mechanical issues, communicating findings clearly to customers and teammates.
  • Source and order parts with precision to ensure jobs are completed without delay.

Mentorship & Team

  • Support and mentor junior mechanics, sharing technical knowledge and reinforcing best practices.
  • Contribute to a shop culture built on positivity, accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in and help facilitate clinics, training sessions, and product knowledge development.

Shop Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workshop that reflects evoโ€™s standards.
  • Support inventory management, including parts ordering and tracking shop supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

The Must Haves

  • No degree required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional bike mechanic experience required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency across road, mountain, gravel, and e-bike platforms strongly preferred.
  • Barnett Bicycle Institute (BBI) or United Bicycle Institute (UBI) certification a plus.
  • Experience with electronic groupsets (Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS) a plus.
  • Experience with suspension service (RockShox, Fox) a plus.
  • Adaptability, attention to detail, communication, customer service, diagnosis and troubleshooting, inventory management, mentorship, multitasking, problem-solving, product knowledge (road, mountain, gravel, e-bike), teamwork, time management.
