About the Role

Allied Mechanical is hiring an HVAC Apprentice to grow into a long-term career in commercial HVAC service and maintenance. In this entry-level position, you'll work directly alongside licensed technicians on preventative maintenance calls, building real hands-on skills while progressing toward your own certifications and license. If you're mechanically curious and ready to learn a trade from the ground up, this is your starting point.

What You'll Do

  • Support licensed technicians on scheduled preventative maintenance visits across commercial HVAC systems — rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers
  • Handle hands-on maintenance work including filter replacement, coil cleaning, belt/pulley checks, and lubricating moving components
  • Assist with troubleshooting routine service issues under direct technician supervision
  • Build skills in reading wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals
  • Accompany technicians on service calls, equipment start-ups, and inspections
  • Document maintenance activity, parts usage, and field observations for the lead technician
  • Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe at all times
  • Follow safety protocols, EPA regulations, and Allied Mechanical policies
  • Load, transport, and manage tools and equipment between job sites
  • Participate in company training and work steadily toward HVAC certification

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willing to pursue EPA 608 Certification
  • Mechanically inclined with a genuine interest in learning the trade
  • Able to work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working outdoors in varying weather
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Dependable with strong attendance history

Preferred

  • Currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a trade school or HVAC training program
  • Background in mechanical, construction, or maintenance work
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive apprentice wages with built-in pay increases as skills progress
  • Paid training and one-on-one mentorship from experienced technicians
  • Company support toward EPA and state licensing
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a retirement plan
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • Defined advancement path to a full HVAC Technician role

Why Allied Mechanical

  • Part of Kelso Industries' national network of trades companies, offering stability and growth opportunities beyond a single shop
  • Merit-shop employer that rewards performance and skill development
  • Real investment in your licensing and long-term career, not just a job
