POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Mechanic 4 will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. The technician will also be expected to make both mechanical and Electrical repairs throughout the course of their workday. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation technology and a passion for innovation and problem-solving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Install, configure, and commission automation equipment and systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), sensors, actuators, and robotic systems.
  • Program and debug PLCs and HMIs to perform desired functions and interface with other control systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of automation equipment to identify and address potential issues before they cause downtime.
  • Troubleshoot automation systems and components to diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software-related problems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and other stakeholders to implement automation solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and system modifications.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in automation technology and recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance system performance.
  • Assist in the design and development of new automation projects, including system integration, testing, and validation.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use and maintenance of automation equipment and systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with automation equipment and installations.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Education:

  • Technical diploma in Automation Technology, related fields or commensurate experience.
  • Proven experience working as an Automation Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and HMI software (e.g., Wonderware, FactoryTalk).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting, including the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
  • Hands on Skill with mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to automation systems and industrial environments.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Regular travel is limited for this position. Occasional travel may be necessary for new equipment commissioning or further education.
