Machine Operator
Job Description
The Machine Operator (Helper Operator) supports high-speed production operations in a Bensenville manufacturing facility by assisting with the operation of roll wrapping machines, a critical step in the cable production process. This role involves loading large spools of cable, monitoring and adjusting equipment, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The position is ideal for someone with prior manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and support roll wrapping machines as part of the cable production process.
- Load large spools of cable onto machinery and ensure proper setup for production runs.
- Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Follow daily production schedules and work to consistently meet output goals.
- Perform regular quality checks to confirm that finished products meet all required specifications.
- Assist with general production duties and tasks as needed to support overall operations.
- Use hand and power tools safely to support machine operation and basic adjustments.
- Handle large spools and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.
- Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from production leadership to ensure smooth workflow.
Essential Skills
- Previous production experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Manufacturing or industrial production background, with familiarity in general labor and general production tasks.
- Experience with machine operation or machine operating in a fast-paced setting.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions as well as production schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality.
- Comfort working with hand and power tools in a production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable standing and working on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to safely handle large spools and perform repetitive tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating or assisting with high-speed equipment such as wire formers or slitting machines.
- background working with roll wrapping or similar packaging machines.
- General familiarity with clean, organized production environments.
- Interest in developing leadership skills and growing into higher-responsibility roles over time.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces and coats electrical wires and cables from start to finish. The process begins with wire on large spools fed into high-speed machines running at approximately 1,200โ1,500 feet per minute, followed by an extrusion process where wire is coated with various materials, colors, and thicknesses to meet customer specifications. The roll wrapping stage, where this role is focused, ensures that finished products are properly packaged and prepared for shipment. The position is available on 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday). The environment is fast-paced and industrial, with regular use of hand and power tools and large production machinery, and requires working on your feet for extended periods while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bensenville, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.38 - $19.25/hr.
