Job Summary
Seeking an experienced professional to deliver hands-on workforce training for incumbent workers and adult learners in the meat cutting/preparation industry. This non-credit instruction is provided on-site at local manufacturing and industrial employer locations, or in campus-based labs as needed. This position is ideal for industry professionals with a meat handling & preparation background who enjoy mentoring and teaching adults.
Job Duties:
  • Teach foundational and intermediate topics in meat preparation, including:
    • Basic Butchering Skills: experience in breaking down various types of livestock (including beef, pork, sheep, goat, and poultry) and identifying key cuts of meat (understand the anatomy of each animal).
    • Understanding of HAACP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
    • Knife Skills: Proper knife handling and maintenance, as well as techniques required for precise cutting and portioning.
    • Sanitation Procedures: meat processing and cleaning protocols; tools and equipment management to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a hygienic work environment.
    • Cutting Room Procedures: efficient handling, cutting, and packaging of meat products - portion control, trimming, and preparing meat cuts for sale or further processing.
  • Reinforce safe work practices in all aspects of instruction.
  • Prepare and maintain instructional materials and equipment.
  • Communicate with Workforce Solutions team, employer partners, and learners about training logistics and expectations.
  • Support learners with informal assessments, real-time feedback, and coaching.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of recent hands-on experience in meat preparation, butchering, or a related role.
  • Strong working knowledge of HAACP standards.
  • Ability to travel to employer sites within the NKY region.
  • Experience working with or training adult learners.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Prior teaching, coaching, or technical training experience.
  • High attention to detail and safety.
  • Self-directed, dependable, and professional .

  • Communicate effectively with Workforce staff, employer partners, and students
  • Offer informal assessments, feedback, and coaching to learners
