Position Purpose

The Meat Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Meat Department, ensuring exceptional product quality, food safety, customer service, and financial performance. This position leads department associates, manages inventory and merchandising, controls expenses and shrink, and ensures the department operates efficiently while delivering a fresh, fully stocked, and appealing shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Direct and oversee daily Meat Department operations.
  • Ensure meat, poultry, seafood, and value-added products are fresh, properly rotated, and merchandised to company standards.
  • Maintain department conditions that support food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order products to meet sales demand while controlling shrink.
  • Execute promotional programs, seasonal displays, and merchandising initiatives.
Customer Service
  • Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
  • Assist customers with product selection, preparation suggestions, and special requests.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Promote quality, freshness, and value throughout the department.
  • Build customer loyalty through product knowledge and service excellence.
Team Leadership
  • Recruit, train, develop, and supervise department associates.
  • Create schedules that align staffing needs with business volume.
  • Conduct performance coaching and provide continuous feedback.
  • Ensure associates understand and follow company policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
  • Foster a positive work environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and results.
Sales and Financial Performance
  • Achieve department sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink goals.
  • Analyze department performance and implement action plans to improve results.

Qualifications Required
