Job Description

The Sanitation Driver I safely drives City of Lynn Haven knuckle booms and debris truck routes, ensuring the proper operation and minor maintenance of the truck, the hydraulics, and other accessories. Our Sanitation I drivers help keep our city clean and presentable and play an important role in making sure the city remains beautiful. The Sanitation Driver I serves a regular route and assists with special hauling/projects. The work schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 4 PM>
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a CDL class B or higher, and two years of similar experience operating heavy equipment, dump trucks, knuckle booms, and other debris hauling vehicles. Candidates must be proficient in the working knowledge of the operation of motor-driven equipment; knowledge of debris collection practices, ability to perform semi-skilled manual tasks and to follow instructions; and ability to operate a sanitation truck and packer equipment;

We are looking for a self-starter who is prepared to get to work with a positive attitude who has the physical strength and stamina to perform the rigorous duties of this job.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely operates assigned equipment/trucks.
  • Inspects assigned equipment prior to operation on a daily basis and reports any issues to the supervisor.
  • Immediately notifies supervisor of equipment issues that affect life safety and equipment performance.
  • Follows all safety and security procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
  • Valid CDL class B REQUIRED.
  • Highly professional and dependable.
  • Able to follow spoken and written instructions.
  • Must know the operational limits and specifications of equipment to which assigned and be able to follow proper rigging standards and ensure quick connect attachments are connected properly.
  • Must follow all safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Must have the physical ability to navigate a refuse truck and work in dirty or dusty surroundings; enter/exit machines comfortably; lift/carry objects; stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms, and legs fully; and see well (naturally or with corrective lenses).
