VHA Las Vegas — Anatomic & Clinical Pathologist

VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS)
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Employer: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration
Schedule: Full‑time
Citizenship: U.S. Citizens (Non‑citizens may be appointed when qualified U.S. citizens are not available) 

About the Opportunity

VASNHS is seeking a Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible Anatomic & Clinical Pathologist to join our growing Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. You’ll provide high‑quality diagnostic services for Veterans across Southern Nevada while enjoying federal career stability, exceptional benefits, and work‑life balance. 

Major Duties
  • Perform gross and microscopic evaluation of surgical pathology, cytopathology, bone marrow, and autopsy cases.
  • Provide clinical laboratory consultation for medical staff and technical personnel.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance, accreditation compliance, and multidisciplinary committees (tumor boards, transfusion review, etc.).
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, and other trainees.
  • Interpret laboratory data and communicate results clearly to providers.
  • Conduct and supervise autopsies, issuing preliminary findings within 24 hours and final reports within designated timelines. 
Requirements
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution.
  • Full, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of ACGME or AOA‑approved residency in pathology (or qualifying alternative pathways per VA policy).
