Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level 1 trauma acute care facility, requiring an active IL RN license and call coverage.

Details
  • Cardiac Cath Lab unit within a Level 1 trauma acute care facility
  • Cath lab operates 6 suites/labs, separate from IR and EP
  • Patient population includes STEMI, NSTEMI, HF, congenital, TAVR, MitraClip, and peripheral cases
  • Average caseload of 4-20 cases per day with 1:1 nurse-to-case ratio
  • Cases staffed with 1 RN and 2 RTR techs for regular cases, 4-person teams for call cases
  • 10-hour day shifts with call requirements
  • 6-8 call shifts per month, including primary and backup call
  • Weekend call coverage required approximately every 6-7 weeks, from Friday 5:30pm to Monday 6:00am
  • Additional 24-hour backup weekend shifts approximately once per month serving as circulator for emergent cases
  • Holiday call coverage required, including Easter backup call
  • No routine floating required, though cross-coverage possible for those with IR experience
  • Uses EPIC EMR along with GE and Philips monitors and McKesson systems
  • Cardiologists are on call 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Charge nurse serves as a resource on each shift and coordinates scheduling and call coverage
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required (or proof that application process has been initiated)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
  • Ability to accurately read cardiac strips required
  • Experience titrating drips required
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiac cath lab setting, including emergent and scheduled procedures
  • Serve as circulator for emergent cases during on-call weekend shifts
  • Participate in unit-specific orientation lasting 2-3 shifts
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate
  • No radius restriction limits eligibility to apply for this position
  • COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
