Job description

At Houston Methodist, the Medical Fellow position is responsible for conducting initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and performing medical procedures appropriate to their level of training and experience under the direction of attending physicians who retain responsibility. This position may write orders and progress notes in patient charts. The Medical Fellow position participates in the educational activities of the program and, as required, assumes responsibility for teaching residents. FLSA STATUS

EDUCATION
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or other acceptable final medical diploma, such as a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

  • Active Physician in Training permit (PIT) or an active license from the Texas Medical Board. Must obtain licensure before the Fellow program's start date. NOTE: Credentials are verified through the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office

  • Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and laboratory targets for quality and safety.
