Job description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) in our small business will have a diverse and hands-on role, handling a wide range of tasks including sales, marketing, strategic planning, and customer relationship management. The BDM will wear multiple hats to drive growth and ensure the business runs smoothly. Due to the dynamic nature of our business, the BDM must be highly adaptable and ready to pivot strategies quickly, working closely with other team members and departments to respond to changing market conditions and business needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • An MBA or other relevant advanced degree can be advantageous but is not always required.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role within the government contracting sector.
  • Experience in managing and developing proposals for government contracts, including familiarity with Requests for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotations (RFQ), and other solicitation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct market research and analysis to identify business opportunities and inform strategies.

Relationship Building:

  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including government and commercial buyers, prime contractors, and industry partners.
  • Establish rapport to position the company favorably for contract awards.

Proposal Development Support:

  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to manage proposal teams and develop winning proposals.
  • Provide strategic input, assist in solution development, and ensure proposals align with client requirements and agency objectives.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis.

Strategic Planning:
