Job description

Purpose of the Position

To create a pipeline of leaders ready for placement into Production Supervisor positions after completing this intensive rotational development program with exposure to all areas of the Simmons business and extensive leadership development.

Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.

Rotations Through the six-month rotational Career Leadership Program, you will get hands-on experience in live operations and in multiple poultry, pet food and animal nutrition plants. You will be exposed to additional aspects of our business, from supply chain and sales to finance and continuous improvement.

Leadership Development We will invest in and develop your leadership skills through classroom training, mentoring and on the job coaching. After graduation from the program, you will be placed into a Production Supervisor position, with the skills and enterprise knowledge you need to be wildly successful while helping us live our value of Putting People First. And we will continue to invest in your learning and development as you grow your career with us!

Projects You accept the challenge of taking responsibility for special projects that drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement as you drive to achieve your goals and key business metrics throughout your program placements.

Performance You will be evaluated and given feedback and coaching throughout this development program. We’re looking for hungry and humble leaders with a heart to serve people. Once you have met our expectations and successfully completed and graduated from this program, you will be placed into a production supervisor role in the region and/or business unit previously agreed upon. You will work hard and prove you have what it takes to lead people at Simmons; there is no guarantee of placement.

Program Graduation Placement Once you become a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering product for internal and/or external customers by leading team members in their daily work. You will lead, coach, motivate and work to keep team members safe, while helping them be successful. You will be responsible for your lines or areas of production and take ownership of continuous improvement as we grow and get better together.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the person in this position and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person as to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing

environment and surrounding property.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by facility.

Travel: This program will require extensive regional travel during the initial six-month rotational program. After placement into a plant production supervisor role, occasional travel to other facilities.

Technical Experience: Willingness to lead, take charge, and desire to take care of people required. Must be able to read and write English. Must be familiar with computers and be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Industry Experience: Preferred experience within a food processing organization.

Minimum Education: 2 years of education with 2 years experience or a Bachelors degree or 4 years of related experience.
