What is an MBA internship?

An MBA internship is a short-term work experience, typically completed during the summer between the first and second year of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. These internships give students practical, hands-on experience in areas such as consulting, finance, marketing, or operations, often within large corporations or startups. MBA internships are important for building professional networks, applying classroom knowledge to real-world business problems, and increasing the chances of securing a full-time job offer after graduation.

What kinds of projects do MBA interns typically work on, and how do these projects contribute to their professional development?

MBA interns are often assigned to high-impact projects that address real business challenges, such as market analysis, process improvement, financial modeling, or strategic planning. These projects are designed to leverage interns' analytical and leadership skills while giving them exposure to cross-functional teams and senior management. Successfully completing these assignments allows interns to develop practical experience, demonstrate their abilities, and often influence key business decisions. This experience is highly valued by employers and can significantly enhance future career opportunities within the organization or industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an MBA Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an MBA Intern, you need strong analytical abilities, business acumen, and a foundational understanding of finance, marketing, or operations, usually supported by current enrollment in an MBA program. Familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and sometimes CRM or ERP systems is often required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills help interns stand out by enabling effective collaboration and initiative-taking. These skills and qualifications are crucial for adding value to projects, adapting quickly, and making a strong impression for potential full-time opportunities.

Integration Program Manager, MBA

Nscale

Seattle, WA • On-site

Job description

Nscale is deploying AI infrastructure at scale across North America. Our deployments are executed by third-party partners who manage 70% of the physical scope. We need an Integration PM who owns the other 30%, including WAN availability, FE network, network device configuration, and customer acceptance, and who builds the integrated 100% delivery picture that leadership and customers can act on. This is a governance and integration role, not an execution role, and we're opening it to MBA and early-career candidates who can grow quickly into owning that picture.

What You Will Do
  • Own Nscale's 30% delivery scope on every active deployment - WAN availability, FE network availability, and network device configuration - from definition through validation and customer sign-off
  • Govern delivery partners - tracking their 70% scope, challenging their schedule assumptions, and escalating when their delivery puts Nscale's commitments at risk
  • Build and maintain the integrated 100% delivery picture - combining vendor inputs with Nscale's own tracking into a single, consumable master view for leadership and customers
  • Own customer acceptance criteria - extract, document, validate, and track against them throughout the deployment lifecycle
  • Serve as the primary customer interface for deployment status, risks, and escalations - communicating clearly and proactively even when problems are unresolved
  • Identify cross-functional dependencies across Supply Chain, GPU PM, Networking PM, and Site PMs - and drive resolution before they impact the schedule
  • Produce weekly leadership reporting that translates deployment complexity into clear, decision-ready narratives
  • Contribute to the development of integration playbooks, governance frameworks, and acceptance standards that scale across multiple concurrent deployments
Minimum Qualifications
  • MBA with a concentration or strong interest in operations, technology, or program management
  • 3-5 years of total professional experience (pre- and/or post-MBA) in technical program management, consulting, operations, or a related field
  • Exposure to or coursework in vendor management, supply chain, or multi-party delivery programs
  • Network and infrastructure literacy - WAN, FE network, and network device configuration are familiar territory, not new concepts
  • Analytical rigor, with comfort synthesizing data from multiple sources into a clear narrative
  • Customer-facing experience (consulting casework, internships, or prior roles) and the confidence to grow into a primary customer interface
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complexity for a non-technical audience
  • Coachable and curious, with eagerness to learn vendor governance and infrastructure delivery from senior team members
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in a hyperscaler, cloud provider, or infrastructure-adjacent industry
  • Experience involving network engineering or network operations
  • Familiarity with GPU cluster delivery, hardware supply chain, or AI/ML infrastructure programs
