The Role:

As the Business Development Manager focuses on the Public Sector, you will play a pivotal role in selling to government agencies that contribute to IDIโ€™s growth objectives. This role carries a revenue quota. You will have a deep understanding of the procurement process, strong relationships with key government stakeholders, and a proven track record of successfully meeting revenue targets and quotas in the public sector space.


What You Will Do:

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identifying potential new agencies and clients within specific industries within assigned geographic regions.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients with state and local government.
  • Creating and executing sales plans to drive revenue and bookings.
  • Understanding client needs and presenting red violet's solutions to address them.
  • Achieving annual revenue targets and quotas.
  • Managing existing accounts and identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Maintaining accurate records in Salesforce & GovWin.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Legal to ensure alignment on revenue initiatives, contracts, and to support sales efforts.
  • Stay informed and up to date on market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments impacting the public sector. Leverage this knowledge to advise partners and shape IDIโ€™s partnership strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze performance against established goals and metrics. Take proactive measures to address any gaps and drive continuous improvement in outcomes.
  • Travel to meet with clients in-person, attending trade shows, speaking engagements and industry events. Travel time 30%.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in solution sales, business development, &/or sales within the public sector, preferably in the technology or data analytics industry.
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Policy, or a related field. Advanced degree, MBA preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of industries like financial services, banking, credit reporting, and the public sector.
  • Proven success in developing and managing relationships that drive revenue growth and customer acquisition.
  • Deep understanding of government procurement processes, regulations, and contracting vehicles.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales performance metrics and market trends.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
  • The ability to travel to meet with clients in-person, attending trade shows, speaking engagements and industry events.
  • Any other tasks assigned accordingly.

Base Salary: Commensurate with experience:

Base Salary range up to $100K Annually plus Sales Commission
