Description and Requirements
About the Role:
The Benefit Service Account Manager is responsible for managing and supporting employee benefits insurance accounts for both Association and Non-Association clients. In this role, you will maintain accurate customer and policy data within My Benefit Advisor (MBA) and carrier platforms, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. You'll play a key part in delivering exceptional service and building strong client relationships.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage and retain assigned client accounts, including outreach to support new clients transitioning to My Benefit Advisor (MBA).
  • Schedule renewal meetings, serve as the primary day-to-day contact, and follow up with clients requesting cancellations.
  • Handle inbound and outbound client calls, including issue resolution, research, completion of forms, and necessary follow up.
  • Attend and participate in on-site client open enrollment and renewal meetings as needed.
  • Consult with assigned clients during annual open enrollment periods, reviewing available benefit options and alternative carriers.
  • Review claim issues and ensure timely tracking, reporting, and resolution within established service level guidelines.
  • Support account executives and sales associates with client concerns and sales-related activities, providing backup coverage as needed.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned clients, maintaining detailed knowledge of key contacts, product lines, and processing procedures.
  • Proactively communicate with clients through scheduled courtesy calls and reminders for delinquent payments.
  • Maintain strong relationships with carriers.
  • Monitor pending client issues and respond to emails and voicemails within 24 business hours, resolving issues within 3 business days whenever possible.
  • Stay informed of relevant Health and Life Insurance regulations, including Health Care Reform, MSP, HIPAA, and COBRA.
  • Participate in educational seminars and training opportunities to maintain industry knowledge.
  • Contribute to overall customer service phone goals, including meeting performance standards for average speed of answer and call abandonment rate, in alignment with New York State Bar Association contractual service level expectations.

What We're Looking For:
  • 2+ years of insurance industry experience supporting healthcare products, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, and HCRA plans.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Accident & Health license required, or ability to obtain within three months from date of hire.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining productive business relationships, with the ability to navigate sensitive or challenging situations professionally.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
