Job Description:

Business Development / Technical Sales will report directly to the President to drive strategic growth and secure new contracts within our aerospace turbine engine manufacturing divisions. In this role, this position will be the primary architect of our market expansion strategy, identifying high-value opportunities with commercial airlines, defense contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Market Expansion
    • Identify, evaluate, and secure new business opportunities in commercial and military turbine engine manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)
    • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies to increase market share in targeted aerospace sectors.
  • Relationship & Capture Management
    • Cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with aerospace OEMs (e.g., GE Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Safran, Honeywell), Tier 1 suppliers, and government/defense agencies
    • Lead end-to-end capture planning for multi-million-dollar requests for proposals (RFPs) and request for information (RFIs).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with engineering, program management, and operations teams to ensure technical proposals align with customer requirements and facility capabilities.
    • Provide the internal manufacturing teams with accurate market intelligence, demand forecasting, and competitive pricing analysis.
  • Contract Negotiation
    • Structure, negotiate, and close complex long-term agreements (LTAs) and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that maximize profitability while mitigating risk. Continuous communication with the President during these phases for direction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field (MBA or Master’s in Engineering preferred)- documentation required
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive business development or sales experience specifically within the aerospace manufacturing or aviation propulsion industries.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of turbine engine components (e.g., casings, turbine blades, combustors), advance metallurgy, and aerospace manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing, thermal coatings).
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP) and regulatory frameworks (ITAR, ERA, and defense acquisition regulations).
  • Ability to travel up to 60% domestically and internationally to visit clients, manufacturing sites, and industry trade shows, without restriction and, upon request prior to travel, must be able to provide any documentation that may be required by the country of destination for entry
  • Deep understanding of gas turbine technologies, aerospace procurement cycles, and a robust network of industry contacts
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s)- documentation required
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacture. As such, successful results of per-employment drug testing will be required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position will require 60% travel and 40% working internally on site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands, and arms, and communicate. Work in office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse and keyboard - 75% of the work day). The employee must frequently lift/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
