Maxio information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Maxio (Subscription Management Software) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Maxio Specialist, you need a solid understanding of subscription billing, SaaS revenue recognition, and financial operations, usually backed by experience in finance or accounting. Familiarity with Maxio software, ERP integrations, and data analysis tools, as well as certifications in accounting or SaaS platforms, is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills help in managing client needs and translating business requirements into effective billing solutions. These skills ensure accurate financial operations, customer satisfaction, and seamless integration of subscription management processes.

What is a Maxio and what do they do?

Maxio is not a traditional job title, but rather the name of a software company that provides billing and subscription management solutions for SaaS businesses. Their platform helps companies automate invoicing, manage recurring payments, handle revenue recognition, and provide analytics on subscription metrics. Professionals working at Maxio typically have roles in software development, customer success, sales, or product management, all focused on helping clients streamline their financial operations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working at Maxio in client-facing roles?

Professionals in client-facing roles at Maxio often manage multiple accounts and must juggle competing priorities, such as responding to client inquiries, troubleshooting software issues, and coordinating with internal teams for technical solutions. A key challenge is balancing proactive customer engagement with reactive support, especially when handling a large portfolio of clients. Additionally, adapting to new product updates and ensuring clients are educated on best practices can require ongoing learning and strong communication skills. Success in these roles often depends on effective time management, collaboration, and the ability to quickly resolve complex issues.

Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Accountant with a Systems Analyst mindset to join our Finance team in Phoenix. This role is built for an accounting professional who is equally comfortable closing the books and improving the systems that produce them - someone who sees process inefficiency as a problem worth solving, not just a fact of life.
You will own critical accounting operations across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report while serving as the team's lead on accounting systems, workflow automation, and financial data infrastructure. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a high-growth SaaS company's accounting function operates in an AI-forward environment - with real ownership and real visibility.
In addition to executing core accounting responsibilities with precision, you will be expected to think like a systems designer: identifying root causes of friction, building durable solutions, and continuously raising the bar on how work gets done. This position reports to the VP of Accounting and works closely with the Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
  • Own key components of the order-to-cash process, including reviewing customer SaaS contracts and bookings for accuracy, recording contract details in the billing system, and monitoring the contract-to-invoice handoff between HubSpot and Maxio.
  • Manage accounts receivable collection efforts, partner with internal teams, and respond to customer billing inquiries with professionalism and sound judgment - building automation to accelerate the collection cycle.
  • Own and monitor the procure-to-pay process, including purchase requests, bill payments, and credit card transaction reconciliation.
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations as part of the record-to-report close process, with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timely execution.
  • Respond to vendor and employee questions related to accounting systems, payments, and account setup, while improving the consistency and scalability of support processes.
Systems & Process Ownership
  • Serve as the Finance team's primary owner of accounting systems and integrations - including NetSuite workflows, the Maxio billing platform, Airbase, and the data flows connecting them. Monitor integration health, identify breakdowns, and drive resolution.
  • Use critical thinking and AI-enabled analysis to own routine accounting workflows - catching exceptions early and escalating issues with clear recommendations rather than just processing transactions.
  • Use AI and automation tools to reduce manual reconciliation, improve exception detection, and produce more reliable and insightful financial outputs.
  • Build, refine, and maintain process documentation, workflows, and operating procedures that improve consistency, training, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities, process inefficiencies, and control gaps, then present practical solutions to the accounting team with clear cost-benefit framing. Own multiproduct cost analysis, building repeatable frameworks that track spend by product line.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Develop repeatable reporting and analytical outputs - close performance, AR aging, spend by product line, revenue trends - that help Finance and the ELT make faster, better-informed decisions.
  • Serve as a process owner who continuously evaluates how work gets done and proactively drives improvements in systems, workflows, and handoffs across accounting operations.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining organized, complete workpapers and ensuring that accounting processes are well-documented and defensible.

You Must Have
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in a SaaS or tech company environment; bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite; familiarity with Maxio and Airbase is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve accounting systems and workflows - not just operate them. You have made processes better, not just faster.
  • Comfort using AI and automation tools to reduce manual work and improve analytical output; you actively look for opportunities to build leverage into your work.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply sound judgment in both routine and non-routine situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical accounting and systems issues into clear language for non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Adaptable, collaborative self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset: you identify problems before they escalate, present solutions with your issues, and treat the systems you work in as products to be continuously improved.
  • Curiosity and initiative to question existing workflows, identify root causes, and recommend better ways of working.

What We Offer
  • Market competitive pay leveraging Carta data
  • Employee recognition through Bonusly (birthdays, anniversaries, achievements, etc.)
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching- 50% match up to 6% of compensation after 90 days
  • We value our employee's work-life balance and encourage taking advantage of Unlimited PTO
  • Supportive time off including paid volunteer days and company holidays
  • Employer-contributed healthcare benefits, encompassing medical, dental, and vision coverage, with plans available for dependents and choices for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • 12 weeks primary parent leave, 4 weeks secondary parent leave - full pay (adoption as well)
  • We pride ourselves on Community and host exciting company outings and events.

We've recently noticed an increase in recruitment scams where individuals are impersonating recruiters to obtain personal or financial information through fraudulent interviews and job offers.
