They work closely with organizations to analyze requirements, configure the Maximo system, and ensure it aligns with business needs. Their responsibilities include gathering user requirements, performing system configurations, training end-users, and supporting process improvements. Unlike technical roles, Maximo Functional experts emphasize process optimization, user adoption, and system functionality rather than software development or coding.

To thrive as a Maximo Functional Consultant, you need in-depth knowledge of IBM Maximo, asset management processes, and a background in information systems or engineering. Familiarity with Maximo modules, workflow configuration, SQL, and relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Deployment Professional are typically required. The successful candidate will lead the implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of business-critical applications while ensuring compliance with security, governance, and operational standards.
This position combines technical expertise, business analysis, and stakeholder engagement to deliver scalable technology solutions that maximize business value, improve operational efficiency, and support enterprise transformation initiatives across a global organization.
In September 2025, KBR announced that we are spinning our Mission Technology Solutions business into a separate public company. This role will ultimately be part of the new company. The Mission Technology Solutions business partners with governments and defense, intelligence, space, aviation, and critical infrastructure customers to deliver high-end engineering, science, technology, and mission support solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage enterprise applications supporting engineering, government systems, supply chain, and corporate functions.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, identify opportunities, and deliver technology solutions that meet operational needs.
  • Lead application lifecycle activities, including implementation, integration, upgrades, modernization, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Manage software vendors, licensing agreements, maintenance contracts, and support relationships.
  • Optimize software utilization, licensing compliance, support services, and overall application value.
  • Support application portfolio management, rationalization, and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Establish governance standards, monitor application performance, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop reporting, analytics, dashboards, and performance metrics to support decision-making and identify emerging technology opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to support enterprise technology initiatives and business objectives.

Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, engineering systems, supply chain platforms, or digital engineering environments.
  • Experience managing application lifecycles, including implementations, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
  • Experience supporting engineering design, supply chain, asset management, or related enterprise systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting custom-developed business applications, system integrations, and business workflows.
  • Experience with software licensing, software asset management, vendor management, and contract renewals.

Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Strong business analysis, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives to successful completion.
  • Understanding of application governance, risk management, and operational support best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as an application owner, product owner, or portfolio lead for business-critical enterprise applications.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, SQL Server, Windows Server, IIS, Azure, and related reporting technologies.
  • Experience supporting engineering, asset management, or digital engineering platforms such as Autodesk, Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks, Cameo, ANSYS, or Maximo.
  • Experience with software asset management, license optimization, and application portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering, supply chain, digital delivery, or connected data environments.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, analytics, and operational reporting.
  • Experience supporting engineering, infrastructure, energy, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government contracting organizations.
  • Experience supporting government property, supply chain, inventory management, asset management, procurement, or logistics applications.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, data governance, ITAR, CMMC, NIST, or similar regulatory and compliance frameworks.
