Position: Senior Drafter – Electrical Substation Design

Location: Forest park, Ga
Duration: 3 Years
Client: Southern Company Services

Job Summary

Southern Company Services is seeking an experienced Senior Drafter to support the design of Transmission & Distribution electrical substations. This role is responsible for creating and modifying AutoCAD 2D engineering drawings, preparing construction packages, and supporting substation design projects while ensuring compliance with company standards, FAC-008 requirements, and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

· Create and modify AutoCAD 2D drawings for electrical substation projects.

· Develop physical layouts including foundations, grounding, conduit, switchgear, control buildings, and electrical bus systems.

· Prepare engineering drawings, material takeoffs, and construction documentation.

· Support substation construction, maintenance, and field services.

· Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

· Maintain compliance with Southern Company design standards and industry codes.

· Participate in occasional field visits to support project execution.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field OR equivalent technical education and relevant industry experience.

· Experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting and design.

· Strong understanding of electrical substations, transmission and distribution systems, or utility operations.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
