SENIOR QUALITY INSPECTORCOMPANY PROFILE:

High Precision Grinding and Machining, a Mavericks Manufacturing Partners Company, is a long-established precision grinding and machining company specializing in the manufacturing of components for critical applications in a variety of high-end markets.

Examples of applications are critical fleet (U.S. Navy), spacecraft and satellites, aerospace, clean tech, alternative energy, semiconductor, medical equipment, and nuclear components.

JOB SUMMARY:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Inspector to join our team located in El Cajon, CA. The Senior Quality Inspector is responsible for performing advanced dimensional inspections, completing complex first article inspections, supporting quality investigations, and mentoring less-experienced inspectors.

This position serves as a senior technical resource within the inspection team and must be capable of providing work direction and leading inspection activities when needed. The role ensures that machined and ground components meet customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement and the company’s quality management system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform complex first article, in-process, and final inspections of CNC machined parts, including tight-tolerance and multi-datum components.
  • Use advanced metrology tools including CMMs, height gauges, optical comparators, surface plates, and precision instruments.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, including profile, true position, and advanced datum structures.
  • Validate special process certifications, material traceability, and outside processing documentation.
  • Lead AS9102 FAIR creation, review, and approval, including ballooning, traceability, and objective evidence.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by preparing records and explaining inspection processes.
  • Identify systemic issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in developing and improving inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools.
  • Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and supervisors to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Review nonconforming material reports and provide technical input on rework or disposition.
  • Train and mentor Quality Inspectors on inspection techniques, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical training in machining, metrology, or quality control preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in a CNC machine shop quality role.
  • Strong level of understanding of dimensional inspection, GD&T, and ISO/AS standards.
  • Strong proficiency with CMM operation and programming, including PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, quality databases, and inspection reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
