Job description

Job Summary
The Grand Z Hotel & Casino / Dragon Tiger is seeking a skilled Journeyman or Master Electrician to join our Facilities team. In this critical role, you will perform journeyman-level electrical installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting across the 118-room hotel, casino floor, and support facilities. You will ensure reliable power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical infrastructure in a fast-paced, 24/7 hospitality and gaming environment while prioritizing safety, compliance, and energy efficiency. Key focus areas include lighting retrofits (e.g., LED conversions and upgrades) to support sustainability goals and reduce operational costs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, circuits, fixtures, motors, generators, switchgear, and control systems throughout the property, including hotel rooms, public areas, casino floor, back-of-house, HVAC equipment, boilers, elevators, and emergency systems.
  • Lead and execute lighting retrofit projects, including assessment of existing systems, installation of energy-efficient LED lighting, ballasts, emergency lighting, and related controls to improve illumination quality, reduce energy consumption, and ensure compliance with codes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including inspections, testing, and documentation for generators, emergency power systems, fire alarms, and life safety equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical specifications for new installations, modifications, and repairs.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently to minimize downtime in a 24/7 operation, including power outages, faulty outlets, lighting failures, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), Colorado state and local electrical regulations, OSHA safety standards, ADA requirements, and property-specific gaming/hospitality codes.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities team on capital improvement projects, renovations, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory; support budgeting and cost-control efforts for electrical projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
  • Promote a culture of safety, including lockout/tagout procedures, proper PPE usage, and hazard identification.

Requirements
  • Valid Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician License (or ability to obtain reciprocity/endorsement).
  • Minimum 4+ years of journeyman-level electrical experience, preferably in commercial, hospitality, casino, or industrial facilities maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, including 120/208V and 277/480V three-phase power, lighting controls, motors, VFDs, and low-voltage systems.
  • Proven experience with lighting retrofits, energy-efficient upgrades, and troubleshooting complex lighting and power distribution issues.
  • Familiarity with casino/hotel systems (e.g., generators, fire/life safety, HVAC electrical interfaces) is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use electrical testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, etc.), and work from ladders, lifts, and confined spaces.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain a Colorado Gaming License (if required).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in various conditions

$40.00- $45.00 per hour
