Position Overview
As an Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer, you will play a key role in expanding Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verification and validation capacity for embedded control systems. Working hands-on with dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, automation frameworks, and production software, you will support the complete virtual validation lifecycle while contributing directly to product quality, reliability, and program delivery milestones. This is an onsite position based in Mossville, IL.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, execute, and maintain validation tests for embedded control software using dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, and automation tools
• Dedicate time across a typical week to HIL/SIL test development and execution (~40%), test automation and scripting (~30%), issue investigation and debugging (~20%), and team collaboration, reviews, and planning (~10%)
• Perform ECU integration, system-level verification, debugging, and root-cause analysis
• Support CAN/J1939 communication protocol testing and diagnostics using Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer)
• Read electrical schematics, perform hardware setup, and troubleshoot HIL/SIL test environments
• Apply diagnostics, fault injection, and validation reporting tools to support thorough test coverage
• Collaborate daily with software developers, controls engineers, system integration engineers, and fellow verification & validation team members
• Participate in technical discussions, defect reviews, and validation planning activities
Team & Work Environment
• Join a Software Verification & Validation team supporting virtual validation, SIL, and HIL testing for embedded control systems, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams across software, controls, and product groups
• Work primarily onsite in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment in Mossville, utilizing HIL benches, virtual validation tools, and laboratory test equipment
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field required with 2-4 years of relevant experience
• Experience with HIL/SIL validation and testing
• Proficiency with dSPACE and MATLAB/Simulink
• Experience with Python and gtest C++ for automation and embedded software verification
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle, version control, and test automation framework development
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across software, controls, and validation teams
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with a continuous learning mindset
