Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Establish Quality Systems and foundation for new programs, new product lines and new equipment.
  2. Develop documentation to support customer and internal requirements (Part approval, SDS, Inspection Standards)
  3. Develop and update Manufacturing Quality Charts (MQC) / Process Control Plans
  4. Gage development, confirmation, and Gage R&R. (CF Approval)
  5. Analyze new process for improvements and failure modes with cross functional team (PFMEA development and updates)
  6. Negotiate appropriate quality judgement levels with customer (Boundary Samples)
  7. Develops CIS for new processes.
  8. Color and Grain matching.
  9. Analysis of process for stability and capability
  10. Support QC to improve / correct quality concerns for mass production parts.
  11. Develops all customer documentation for new parts – Inspection Standard, Sample Data Sheet
  12. Develop / design checking fixture concepts for new parts (working with CF builder)
  13. Responsible for all part approval documentation submitted to the customer.
  14. Attends all required trials for responsible parts (internal and at customer)
  15. Ability to lead activities with other departments to find root cause and develop countermeasures for issues.
  16. Maintain awareness and understand the roles and responsibilities regarding the environmental policies, management system, and objectives and targets by attending the required training. Perform all tasks in accordance with the EMS procedures and practices and minimize the impact of their activities on the environment.

Experience / education in preparing PPAP or other ISO/TS documentation.

Ability to develop good working relationships with customers.

Knowledge and ability to do SPC studies.

Ability to problem solve - 5 why, 8-D, etc.

Willing to travel up to 20% of time (domestic and international)

Experience / education in preparing PPAP or other QMS documentation.

Statistical knowledge for capability analysis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS degree in engineering or technical-related discipline, 2 year or more of Quality or Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Clear, concise written and verbal skills

Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively in a group setting.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Computer proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel.

Proficient in using SPC software such as Minitab, etc.

Ability to read and interpret part drawings (blueprints) including GD&T principals.

Ability to “problem-solve” using 5-why and other methodologies.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform high level mathematical calculations and to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime throughout the week and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
