Job description

San Francisco University High School is a college preparatory school. Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach Calculus or similar upper-level math courses. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring a designated group of students, committee work, and additional tasks as needed in the Math department and at UHS. This position is full-time for the 2026/27 school year.

  • Develops and teaches Calculus or accelerated pre-Calculus or similar courses in collaboration with course team members.
  • Collaborates with other teachers to maintain alignment of course competencies, content, pacing, and assessment
  • Assesses students using SFUHS Math Department grading system
  • Collaborates with Math Department members to continue developing the program and maintain vertical alignment.
  • Hosts office hours for students and makes availability to meet with students 1:1
  • Attends weekly team, faculty, department, course team, and new teacher meetings.
  • Attends all-school community meetings and days, including All-School meetings and Red Days.
  • Vigorously engages in their own professional development
  • Actively participates in the full life of the school, which can include but is not limited to: serving on an academic governance committee, mentoring, admissions events, sponsoring affinity groups, coaching, and sponsoring co-curricular clubs.
  • Establishes community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all of the school's constituencies
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school's documents
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:
  • Experience in effectively teaching AP Calculus or similar courses.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Math from a four-year college or university OR a degree in a related field with significant coursework in Math.
  • Coursework, experience, or professional development in curriculum design and instruction for high school students OR an education degree, is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Mastery of pedagogy specific to the developmental needs of high school-aged students, including demonstrated knowledge and skill in differentiating lessons to appeal to a variety of learning styles, needs, and accommodations
  • Willingness to teach courses based on the need of the department
  • Demonstrated skills in giving appropriate formative and summative feedback
  • Demonstrated collaboration on course teams
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the school's mission, including a commitment to student-centered education and inclusive classroom practices
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset and openness to feedback
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and the program
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill to work with students, families, administrators, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to use Google Suite, learning management systems (i.e. Canvas), operate AV technology, and learn new technology.
  • Openness to working in a closely collaborative office environment with colleagues
