Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Foster City, CA! If you're committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special needs and helping them achieve academic success, we want to hear from you!

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Foster City, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Foster City, CA
  • Schedule: 20 hours per month; 3 days a week for 1.5 hr
  • Rate is between $25 and $35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

  • Teaching credential required
  • Extensive experience working with SPED students, including nonverbal and neurodivergent learners
  • Strong background supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD
  • Experience teaching foundational literacy and foundational math skills at the PreK/Kindergarten level
  • Skilled in functional communication development, social-emotional learning (SEL), and emotional regulation support
  • Comfortable using visual supports, sensory-based learning, simplified language, and hands-on instruction
  • Patient, calm, flexible, and highly attuned to nonverbal communication cues
  • Able to balance structure with flexibility while maintaining predictable routines
  • Experience implementing movement breaks, sensory supports, and positive reinforcement strategies
  • Strong understanding of neurodiverse learning profiles and individualized instructional approaches

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct an initial assessment to identify academic, communication, and functional learning needs
  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy and foundational math skills
  • Support functional communication development through visuals, modeling, prompting, and interactive activities
  • Reinforce social-emotional learning skills, including emotional identification, self-regulation, and communication of needs
  • Use structured routines, visual schedules, and sensory-aware teaching strategies to support engagement and learning
  • Incorporate movement breaks, hands-on activities, and sensory-based learning experiences throughout sessions
  • Create a calm, supportive learning environment responsive to emotional and sensory needs
  • Use Playdough, music, and interactive activities to increase participation and motivation
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction to align with the student's unique learning profile and developmental goals
  • Collaborate with caregivers to support consistency and communication across settings
