Adult Education - Mathematics Skills Readiness Instructor

GENERAL STATEMENT
OF JOB:
Dutchess BOCES' Adult Learning Institute is looking for a qualified Mathematical Skills Readiness Instructor to lead a specialized refresher course. This program is designed for adult learners entering vocational trade pathways (such as HVAC, Construction, Welding or Auto) who need to strengthen their foundational math skills to meet trade-specific prerequisite standards. This is a part time position.  The course will run for 8 sessions totaling 24 hours, 2 evenings per week, for 3 hours per night.

QUALIFICATIONS, 
EXPERIENCE AND 
COMPETENCIES:    
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an associate's degree, 35 years of experience with applied mathematics, and have strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain the why behind the how.  They will have the ability to break down complex concepts into simple, actionable steps for learners with varying levels of "math anxiety."

Experience working with pre-apprenticeship or workforce development programs.
Familiarity with blueprint reading and technical drawing.
Strong patience and a passion for helping students succeed in hands-on careers.
