Job description

Provides for the independent design, development and implementation of engineering products, methods or processes on complete projects or systems, including complex projects of a technical nature. This position works independently on moderately complex technical projects while assisting on larger very complex projects of a technical nature. Conducts analysis and research to evaluate alternate concepts and approaches for applicability in design and manufacture. Conducts verification and validation testing and/or analysis and recommends improvements in testing equipment and techniques.

Working Procedure:

  • Responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of engineering processes, methods and products
  • Works independently under light technical oversight of engineering supervisors and/or senior engineers on projects or subsystems of a technical nature
  • Prepare major complex portions of written documentation in a team environment to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, technical manuals, disclosures and scientific discoveries
  • Assist in the formulation of systems requirements
  • Works as part of integrated product teams with other cross functional professional employees in the execution of engineering functions. Will act as team leader for appropriate tasks
  • Receives guidance from, and interfaces with, peers, senior engineers and other professional employees in the execution of engineering functions
  • Provide technical leadership within the section for recognized discipline
  • Provides guidance to junior engineers and Integrated Product Team members
  • Plan and organize the responsibilities for a broad spectrum of assignments with occasional guidance
  • Defines and analyzes the technical requirements for assigned engineering tasks
  • Generates, modifies and upgrades mathematical models to predict design performance
  • Uses commercial and proprietary simulation tools in developing and evaluating designs
  • Acquires information from all relevant sources, including industry and governments standards, handbooks, textbooks and reference manuals
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of TCOM design guidelines and practices
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Follows industry and internal design guidelines and methodologies
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution to meet design requirements
  • Conducts and supports internal and customer design reviews
  • Generates reports, white papers and technical memoranda
  • Perform research and analysis of technical issues to develop solutions to meet design objectives
  • Works to complete tasks within cost and schedule constraints. Provides status and feedback on task progress
  • Provide feedback and make recommendations to improve designs and reduce cost and/or schedule
  • Conducts testing, develops prototype to validate designs
  • Documents the design development
  • Support multiple assignments on different design product teams
  • Use the infrastructure to accomplish objectives
  • Support production, testing and field operations in improving designs
  • Applies scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results. Tools are objective in nature utilizing quantitative or analytical techniques
  • Maintain engineering skills consistent with advances in technology
  • Support multiple assignments of increasing responsibility
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, in a related discipline.

Experience Requirement: Minimum of eight years of engineering experience. Advanced degree can be substituted for job experience pending review. 

In compliance with state and local laws, the salary range for this role is $109,008 - $164,000. The range provided is a general guideline and good faith estimate representative of all experience levels but is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. TCOM considers several factors when extending an offer including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate’s experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
