Qualifications:
Appropriate Paraprofessional License required
Physical ability to be trained and perform physical management techniques with fidelity.ย
Requirements for Paraprofessional License:
At least 19 years of age andย 1 of the following:
- Oneย of the following required:
- Associate's degree or higher
- 60 semester hours of coursework
- High School Diploma or GEDย andย a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
- High School Diploma or GEDย andย the following scores on the ACT Workkeys:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
- Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
- Monitor and assist students in their daily routines across school settings.
- Provide individual/small group instruction under teacher supervision.
- Provide academic support at the student's academic level.
- Accompany students and provide academic support.
- Assist students with bathroom/hygeine needs according to teacher request or needs of student; use appropriate sanitation during these activities.
- Support students therapy program as directed by realted services stff and/or classroom teacher including data collection.
- Provide active student supervision including but not limited to: bus duty, community outings, playground, lunchroom, and passing periods.
- Follow behavioral programs inlcuding behavior intervention plans and crisis plans, including but not limited to: reinforcement, non-violent crisis intervention, data collection, modeling, and physical management.
- Assist students onto and into transportation to and from school and during the school day.
- demonstarte care for, correct use of, and maintenance of equipment, materials and school property.
- Develp classroom materials including but not limited to cutting, typing, copying, laminating, utliizing propriety software.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety of students by maintaining a safe environment and knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Work in a professional manner with staff.
- Participate in specialized training as requested by the program administrator.
- Take appropriate initiative when no specific task is assigned.
- Follow classroom teacher routines and procedures.ย
