Job Description / Essential Elements:
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Assists the teacher in a variety of activities including the production and preparation of materials, instructing and assisting students, maintaining records and monitoring assignments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides and/or reinforces instruction to individual students and groups of students as directed.
2. Assists in implementing Individual Educational Plan goals for the general school population.
3. Monitors student assignments
* 4. Prepares materials for student use in the classroom.
5. Assists with the maintenance of records of student needs, instructional programs, student progress, preparation of forms, organizing and maintaining files.
6. Works as a team member in assessing and in meeting student needs.
* 7. Operates various machines used in the instructional process and in the preparation of classroom materials.
8. Assists with the supervision of children in class and at school activities.
9. Assists in administering and monitoring tests.
10. Becomes familiar with instructional materials and appropriate tests.
11. Support and assist in the enforcement of classroom, school and district rules.
12. Maintains good public relations with students, parents, staff, and community.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
General classroom procedures; basic English usage and math skills; general office machines; general principles of child development.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; pass Proficiency Test; operate office machines; learn the subject areas taught in specific assignment(s); understand and implement oral and written directions in English.
Experience
One year experience working with school age students.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Supervision
Under general supervision, reports to the site administrator. Receives direction and assistance from assigned certificated staff member(s).
