Job description

St. Norbert College is seeking applications for a nine-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics Education, beginning in August 2026. We are looking for a teacher educator with expertise in both mathematics and mathematics education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching mathematics content courses, such as Numbers & Operations, Algebra, and Geometry, as well as mathematics teaching methods courses for K-9 and 4-12 licensure areas. Additionally, the candidate will supervise teacher candidates during clinical field experiences and engage in advising and service consistent with the expectations of a full-time teaching faculty appointment.
Other course assignments will depend on the needs of the Teacher Education discipline and the expertise of the successful candidate. This full-time faculty appointment will be responsible for teaching 3 courses each semester, with supervision each academic year. The position is offered as a three-year contract, contingent on positive annual performance reviews and institutional needs, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should hold a current teaching license and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, a clinically grounded approach to teacher education, and a dedication to serving diverse learners through an asset-based perspective.
Please note that this is an on-site role requiring full-time on-campus attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned master's degree in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, or a closely related field (a doctorate is preferred; ABD candidates nearing completion will be considered).

  • A minimum of three years of successful K-12 mathematics teaching experience and a current teaching license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching mathematics in K-12 settings, particularly at the elementary and middle school levels, as well as in higher education.

  • Familiarity with asset-based and learner-centered pedagogies in mathematics instruction.

  • Experience advising, mentoring, and/or supervising preservice teachers in both clinical and non-clinical settings.

  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity, social justice, and culturally responsive pedagogy.

  • Experience collaborating with colleagues and engaging with the broader community.

  • Evidence of an active scholarly or research agenda.

  • Administrative license (e.g., principal, etc.)
