What We Look For In a Math 1 Tutor

Guides students through modeling with linear and exponential functions, interpreting scatter plots and residuals, and performing rigid transformations on the coordinate plane. Emphasizes mathematical reasoning and connecting algebraic and geometric perspectives to real-world problem scenarios.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Integrated Math 1 curricula and Common Core standards, and common challenges such as writing linear equations from context, understanding function notation, and constructing geometric arguments. Adapts instruction using interactive graphing tools, hands-on transformation activities, and contextual problems to support students transitioning from middle school to high school integrated mathematics.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
