They may teach at the elementary school level (grades kindergarten through five), middle school level (grades six through eight), or high school level (grades nine through twelve). Elementary school math teachers are trained in general math concepts in their general education training, while secondary school math teachers who teach in public schools must be certified as a math teacher to teach their specific math levels. What are some common challenges math teachers face when supporting students with varying levels of math proficiency?

Math Teachers often work with students who have diverse abilities and confidence in mathematics. A key challenge is differentiating instruction so that advanced learners remain engaged while struggling students receive the support they need.
