Job Description

Job Title: Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Senior Director of Engineering

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Position Status: Indirect

Work Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM


SUMMARY


The individual is responsible for the design and oversight of new manufacturing processes required for gas turbine engine component repair. They will support Engineering efforts in technology and hardware development for enhancing product quality and life cycle.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other relevant duties will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

  • Create detailed instructions for inspection, repair and assembly of gas turbine engines and power turbines.
  • Develop new and/or improved tooling for engine and power turbine shop maintenance.
  • Develop and oversee new manufacturing processes required for component repair, tooling, or new-make parts.
  • Prepare engineering reports related to failure analysis and customer corrective action requests.
  • Develop salvage repairs for engine and power turbine parts that exceed existing repair criteria.
  • Provide technical/process instructions to personnel as required.
  • Create gas turbine engine component and tooling drawings.
  • Create and maintain assembly/disassembly operation sheets.
  • Solve departmental problems (machine shop, engine disassembly, engine assembly).
  • Train personnel in the interpretation of manufacturer’s technical data, drawings etc.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area and adhere to all housekeeping requirements. Follow all safety procedures and rules and properly wear all safety protective equipment as required.
  • Conduct oneself in a businesslike manner with a spirit of teamwork.
  • Perform special projects assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Proficiency with 3-D modeling software and the Microsoft Office environment.
  • Hands-on experience in Gas Turbine component repair and process development including fusion welding, brazing, coatings, heat treatment, thermal spray, plating, surface treatments and the inherent metallurgical changes, relationships and implications associated with these processes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, document, and use manufacturer’s technical manuals, service Bulletins, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, assembly drawings, WGPW inspection sheets and assembly records.
  • Ability to apply the concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and college-level math as they relate to dimensional restoration of gas turbine components, fits and clearances, running positions, etc.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering college and/or 10 years of equivalent industry experience.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
