PCBA Technician

DEPARTMENT: MANUFACTURING

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT/HOURLY 

REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR


SUMMARY

PCBA Technician will assemble products by using a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, PCB soldering, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble, test, and calibrate devices. Duties will also include repair and rework of electronics assemblies using both SMT and Thru-hole components, and assisting in the operation of SMT and other electronics assembly production equipment. Accurately assembling various devices according to standard work instructions to meet the facility's productivity and quality goals. Inspects product builds, making sure it meets criteria of quality.    


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Thru-Hole and SMT hand-soldering of components into electronic assemblies
  • Rework of Thru-Hole and SMT electronic assemblies
  • Operation of Electronics Manufacturing Equipment
  • Connect and solder electrical components, cables, and wires per project requirements. 
  • Understanding and daily application of quality systems and quality standards.  
  • Ensure good operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluate and improve new equipment and techniques. 
  • Works closely with electrical apparatuses such as meters, regulators, reference detectors etc. 
  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during assembly and rework. 
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies. 
  • Resolve problems by investigating; identify solutions and recommend action. 
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets and gases. 
  • Work effectively with the team to ensure that all daily, weekly, and monthly production goals are met. 
  • Inspection of completed assemblies to ensure they meet company requirements for quality and accuracy. 
  • Attention to detail to produce an accurate and high-quality product
  • Identify problems and help implement solutions. 
  • Assemble electrical, electronic systems and support structures. Install components, units, subassemblies, wiring and assembly housings. 
  • Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, or production orders. 
  • Test functional performance. 
  • Maintain computer knowledge and internal software.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Package finished products and preparing them for shipping. 
  • Ability to work daily and overtime as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • 1 year of experience in related field (Preferred). 
  • Skilled in all aspects of PCB soldering
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components, instruments, and devices. 
  • Electronic assembly experience. 
  • Skill and ability to control use of resources. 
  • Ability to be an effective team member; communicate and cooperate with other personnel. 
  • Proficient knowledge of the computer and Microsoft Office products. 
  • Basic math skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, in accordance with company policy. 
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Knowledge of IPC A-610 inspection criteria


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use small tools and components such as tweezers, pliers, cutters, soldering irons, ovens, and electrical test equipment. 
  • Combination of a standing and sitting position which includes frequent walking, lifting and occasionally carrying of up to 50 pounds. 
  • Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, grasp, and reach. 
  • This position occasionally works in an industrial environment and may be exposed to dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, and loud noises and changes in temperature.  
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
