DESCRIPTION OF WORK To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for performing complex skilled technical work and supervises other in electric meter installation, calibration, and testing; investigation and resolution of metering issues; and utilization of various electric meter manufacturers' software program to program solid state/electronic electric demand meters and calculate consumption and billing. JOB REQUIREMENTS Supervises electric meter technicians and participates in the installation, calibration and testing all types and classes of electric meters including AMR and AMI meters and related equipment. Oversee inventory for the EMS.
Assist troubleshooters and Line crews, Dispatch, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Staking Engineers, and Customer Service with all meter and related issues. Utilizes MV-90, Sensus RNI, Sensus Analytics, and MS Excel software programs to translate large industrial and commercial customer monthly load profile electric meter consumption data into billing data; investigate and resolve any issues or discrepancies. Develops, programs, and upgrades solid state/electronic electric demand meters for all medium and larger commercial and industrial customers.
Specifies, orders, and maintains an inventory of all electric meters and related equipment. Investigate and implement new electric metering technologies and equipment. Investigates and resolves complex electric metering and billing issues; troubleshoots difficult metering problems.
Maintains a complete and thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with electric distribution industry safety and procedural rules and regulations including NESC, OSHA, APPA, and City policies. Supervises and trains electric meter technicians ensuring productivity, consistent adherence to policy, effectively evaluating performance and promoting skill development. Performs other related duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years' experience in a related field of work. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Qualifications: None KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of electric meters and meter wiring, including the programming of load profile meters and other software.
Knowledge of job-related computer hardware and software. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to utilities. Knowledge of job-related hand tools, volt, and ammeters, as test instruments and some small power tools and equipment.
Knowledge of job-related safety and procedural rules and regulations. Skill in the interpretation and application of federal, state, and local policies, codes, and laws. Skill in the supervision of personnel.
Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions. Skill in preparing clear and accurate reports. Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships.
Skill in setting priorities for competing projects. Skill in performing mathematical calculations. Skill in operating computers and other standard office equipment.
Skill in interpersonal relations. Skills in oral and written communication. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES None PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Visual Acuity 5: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily outdoors where exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, and noise is typically encountered. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and occasional cold or inclement weather.
The work may require protective devices, such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
