Math Interventionist Specialistย 

Responsibilities Include:ย 

  • Observing students in the classroom or during math lessons to identify their challenges, learning styles, and specific math needs.
  • Conducting assessments to evaluate students math skills and identifying areas for improvement
  • Designing individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's unique learning needs, promoting their mathematical growth
  • Designing and implementing curriculum and assessments utilizing data to refine teaching strategies that aligns with academic standards and effectively measure student progress.
  • Providing one-on-one math instruction to students at various levels of proficiency requiring additional support with math concepts, reinforcing skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, or algebra.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to communicate student progress, strategies, math goals, and overall student success.
  • Utilizing evidence-based strategies such as visual models, manipulatives, and direct instruction to improve students' math problem-solving abilities and conceptual understanding.
  • Facilitating group math instruction for students with similar challenges, fostering peer learning in areas like multiplication or word problems.
  • Offering enrichment or remedial activities focusing on key math skills like number sense, computational fluency, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Developing targeted intervention plans using a variety of instructional methods and materials to enhance students' math abilities, using manipulatives, games, or digital tools to engage students
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to stay informed on the latest educational best practices and advancements in math education.

Essential Duties:

  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication;
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction;
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven communication and instructional strategies;
  • Classroom management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification;
  • NJ Criminal History;
  • Work authorization in the U.S.;
  • Tuberculosis Test;
  • Experience is a plus.
