Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is currently seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer (DevOps Engineer) to join the team. This position will be based on site in Melbourne, FL.

The DevOps Engineer Software is expected to be a highly motivated self-starter that has an interest in working in building capabilities to support data flow between products. Software application integration requires in-depth technical knowledge on creating the ability for independently built software systems to work together without manual intervention to encourage a flexible exchange of data between applications. This leads to increased efficiency, and opportunities for reuse. Requires knowledge of scripting languages within application program interfaces such as Java and Python to implement. Works with Integrated Product Teams to complete tasks relating to defining integration requirements, understanding program deliverables, and supporting development, deployment, and sustainment of program integrations across all networks. Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Is self-motivated, works well with teams in collaborative environments.
Essential Functions:
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
  • Determines computer uses needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and control
  • Designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
  • Ensures software standards are met

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure seamless data flow between various software tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand integration requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance existing integrations to improve performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues in a timely manner.
  • Document integration processes and provide training to team members.
  • Familiarity with tool API exploitation of Atlassian tools, Cameo, and Ansys simulation tools.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of experience in software engineering OR a Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 or more years of experience in software engineering OR a PHD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 3 years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of APIs and data exchange protocols.
  • Software development experience in C/C++, Python, and other OOP languages
  • Jenkins administrative experience
  • Experience in Design, Develop, Test, and Implement software tool integrations using APIs.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an interim Top Secret prior to starting the role, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of networking and security principles.
  • Experience with integrating software and hardware
  • An active, In-scope U.S. Government Secret or Top Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
