Saint Nicholas Catholic School in Gig Harbor seeks a detail oriented and committedย part time 5th Grade Math Teacher and K-8 Tutor, starting 2025-26ย school year. St. Nicholas School is a Preschool thru 8th grade Catholic school residing on the grounds, and fully in partnership, with the Saint Nicholas Parish community.ย  We are committed in our mission: "United by the love of Christ, St. Nicholas Catholic School, in partnership with parents and parish, teaches the fullness of the Catholic faith, fosters academic excellence, and nurtures a community of disciples."ย  ย We seek like minded individuals to join our mission!

CLASSIFICATION:ย Covenant; salary
WORK SCHEDULE: 21.5 hours/weekย 
BENEFITS:ย This position is part time and not benefits eligible
PAY: starts at $26,000 Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.



POSITION PURPOSE

  • To support students in developing strong foundational and advanced 5th-grade math skills.
  • To foster confidence, curiosity, and perseverance in mathematical thinking.
  • To provide individualized and small-group instruction that supports diverse learning needs.
  • To help students recognize the beauty, order, and logic of mathematics as part of God's creation.

II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Math instruction Provide clear, structured, and engaging 5th-grade math lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Tutoring support One-on-one tutoring to reinforce concepts and address learning gaps.
  • Assessment practices Evaluate and report each student's mathematical growth, understanding, and skill development.
  • Lesson planning Prepare intentional, well-sequenced lessons and practice materials.
  • Collaboration Work with classroom teachers to support student progress and align instructional goals.
  • Communication Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Classroom management Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.

  • Math proficiency
  • Valid Washington State Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education with a major or minor in Mathematics or a related field
  • Practicing Catholic
