Job Responsibilities
To run the math lab and student success center and to provide academic support to our students. OCtech is seeking part-time Biology and Math Tutors to provide academic support to students through both individual and small-group tutoring sessions offered in person and virtually. Tutors help students strengthen their understanding of course content while also promoting effective learning strategies, including time management, note-taking, and study skills. In addition to tutoring, tutors participate in Student Success Center events and workshops, assisting with the development and delivery of academic support programs. Tutors work a predetermined schedule during the academic semester, typically Monday through Thursday, to accommodate student appointments and drop-in tutoring.
Weekly schedules generally range from 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on student demand and availability. Tutors are responsible for maintaining accurate session documentation, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with faculty and Student Success Center staff to support student success.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Prior tutoring experience, particularly in the subject area, and a high school diploma. Current OCtech students can apply but must have completed the course they are hired to tutor in with a B or higher and a recommendation from the instructor.
Preferred Qualifications
An associate degree or higher in the content area that they will be tutoring in or a closely related field with tutoring experience.
