Key responsibilities

  • Rotate product at each visit to ensure date compliance and document any out-of-code or damaged items

  • Build and maintain point-of-sale displays, cold-box placements, and floor stacks to VED and supplier standards

Job description

Virginia Eagle Distributing (VED) is one of Virginia's leading beverage distributors, delivering beer and non-alcoholic beverages to retailers across the Commonwealth. We're looking for a dependable, motivated Merchandiser to join our Charlottsville team — stocking shelves, building displays, rotating product, and making sure our brands look great at every account.
This is a physical, active, out-in-the-field role — not a desk job. As a Merchandiser on this Charlottesville Monday–Friday route, you'll be the face of VED's brands at every account. If you have a background in retail stocking, grocery merchandising, or consumer packaged goods (CPG), this role is a natural next step into beverage distribution. If you take pride in your work, like being on the move, and want to be part of a team that keeps Virginia's favorite beverages flowing, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
  • Drive a company vehicle to assigned retail accounts daily and stock shelves, coolers, and display areas with VED products according to plan-o-gram and brand standards
  • Rotate product at every visit to ensure date compliance; pull and document any out-of-code or damaged items
  • Build and maintain point-of-sale displays, cold-box placements, and floor stacks to VED and supplier standards
  • Execute promotional programs, new item placements, and pricing as directed
  • Provide courteous, professional service to store staff at each account; communicate account needs and any issues to your Sales Representative or Manager
  • Report shelf conditions, out-of-stocks, and competitive activity to your Sales Representative or Manager
What We're Looking For
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (subject to motor vehicle record check)
  • Ability to lift and carry 15–40+ lbs repeatedly throughout the shift, including overhead lifting, with frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and standing across multiple locations
  • Previous merchandising, retail stocking, or beverage distribution experience preferred
  • Basic math skills and ability to verify case quantities
  • Comfortable operating a handheld scanning device and tablet for documentation
  • Reliable attendance — our retail partners count on us to show up as scheduled
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • Composite-toe footwear required
What We Offer
  • $18.00–$23.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications at time of offer. Starting pay for new hires is typically at or near the range minimum. Placement above the minimum is based on directly relevant industry experience and internal equity.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD)
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Safe Harbor 401(k)
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Uniforms provided
