Hazel Park School District is seeking highly qualified student-centered Educators to support Innovative instructional models through the district's 31c small size Grant and multi-tiered system support. These grant funded-positions are designed to reduce student to teacher ratio strength and Tier 1 core instruction, expand opportunities for small group learning, and provide targeted academic inventions that improve student achievement. Teachers hired into these positions may be assigned as a classroom teacher, co-teacher or floating MTSS interventionist, based on building and student needs.
Successful candidates demonstrate a strong understanding of evidence-based instruction practices, differentiate instruction, data informed decision making and clever problem solving. They are committed to working as part of an interdependent team, to ensure that every student receives high quality instruction and support needed to achieve academic success.
Grant-funded position. Continuation is contingent upon the availability of grant funding and district staffing needs.
Classroom or Co-Teacher
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Provide grades and administer assessments timely.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide on-going communication to parents on student progress and classroom activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Practice proper classroom management techniques.
  • Engage students in the learning process, differentiate as needed.
  • Co-plan and co-teach with colleagues

MTSS Floating Interventionist
Responsibilities:
  • Implement research-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions in a small group or individualized instructional setting
  • Utilize data to identify and inform instructional decisions
  • Develop, document, and maintain ongoing intervention plans in the intervention management system.
  • Maintains progress monitoring data on how students are responding to intervention plans to make adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate with families regarding student progress and provide strategies families can use at home.
  • Work as a collaborative member of a grade level team to develop and monitor interventions plans, make data-informed decisions, and provide targeted student support
  • Co-plan and co-teach with colleagues

Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of responsibility with appropriate elementary endorsement.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in major areas of study.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based literacy and math instruction
  • Experience using assessment data to inform instruction
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and technology skills
  • Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction, and develop interventions.
  • Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff.

Preferred:
  • Experience providing literacy and/or math interventions
  • Experience with co-teaching models
  • Experience supporting diverse learners
