Open Window School (K-8, coed, 360-student day school) is seeking highly qualified candidates for its K-8 Learning Support Interventionist position.

Position Overview
Open Window School seeks a skilled, thoughtful, and flexible Learning Support Interventionist to join our growing Student Support Services team. This role works across grades Kโ8 and partners closely with the Student Support Services Coordinator, administrators, counselors, teachers, and families to provide targeted academic and skill-based interventions.
This position supports gifted learners, including twice-exceptional students and those with asynchronous development, and reflects Open Windowโs belief that challenge and support canโand shouldโcoexist.
The Interventionist provides small-group and individual instruction, monitors student progress, helps design responsive intervention systems, and contributes to a school culture that honors both student strengths and areas for growth.
Key Responsibilitiesย
Student Support & Intervention (examples of responsibilities)
- Provide targeted small-group and individual academic instruction across Lower and Middle School
- Deliver reading, writing, and math intervention, with a focus on grades 4โ6 for math support
- Support study skills and executive functioning development
- Provide in-class (push-in) support as needed
- Administer academic screeners and assessments, as directed
- Proctor small-group testing sessions as needed
- Support studentsโ social-emotional and executive functioning needs during academic work
Collaboration & Systems Supportย
- Collaborate with the Student Support Services Coordinator, counselors, teachers, and administrators (Kโ8)
- Participate in student support meetings
- Use assessment data and teacher input to design and adjust interventions
- Communicate proactively and professionally with colleagues and families
- Support the development of schoolwide student support systems
- Assist with documentation, including student support plans and related records
Program Developmentย
- Help design and refine intervention offerings during the school day, as well as before- and after-school programs
- Support school-based or fee-based after-school programs, as appropriate
- Contribute to professional learning in areas such as gifted education, twice-exceptionality, executive functioning, and student wellness
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelorโs degree in special education, education,ย psychology, learning support, or a related fieldย
- At least three years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school studentsย
- Strong understanding of child development and social-emotional learningย
- Background in reading, writing, math intervention, or study skills instructionย
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamย
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-throughย
Preferred:
- Experience working withย gifted and/or twice-exceptional studentsย
- Teaching certificate or relevant specialized trainingย
- Experience in independent schoolsย
Position Details:
- Manager: Assistant Director of Lower School & Student Support Services Coordinator
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and aligned with the OWS Teacher Salary Scale (available on our website)
- Classification: Full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible
- Hours: Core hours are 8:00 a.m. โ 4:00 p.m., with Tuesdays extending to 5:00 p.m. (with flexibility depending on before- and after-school programming), as well as occasional evening commitments, including school events and faculty events.
